US FlagCanada FlagUS/Washington & Canada/Ottawa: Polaris Industries Inc., a Medina, Minnesota establishment recalls an estimated total 359 Polaris Brutus Utility Vehicles (“UTVs”) (approximately 340 in the US and approximately 19 in Canada) from the American and Canadian marketplaces due to possible rear brake line damage and consequential risks of brake failure, loss of vehicle control, injury and property damage, all serious safety hazards.

Additional information:
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (“CPSC”) reports this recall involves certain model year 2017–2018 Polaris Brutus Utility Vehicles (“UTVs”):

The recalled two-seated Utility Vehicles are gray, black and blue. The vehicles have the brand, “POLARIS” stamped on the front grille, “POLARIS BRUTUS” on the sides of the utility bed, and “DIESEL HD” on the front fenders. Vehicle identification numbers (“VINs”) included in this recall can be found on a label affixed to the vehicle frame in the left front wheel well. Non-sequential VINs ending in 7740364 to 8576615 are included in this recall, as follows:

  • Model Year 2017 Brutus DSL HD PTO DLX Utility Vehicles
  • Model Year 2017 Brutus DSL HD PTO Utility Vehicles
  • Model Year 2018 Brutus DSL HD PTO DLX Utility Vehicles

==> No barcodes, VINs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the CPSC, the rear brake line on the recalled Utility Vehicles can become punctured causing the brakes to fail, posing a collision and crash hazard. As of the date of this release, Polaris has received one (1) report where the rear brake line rupturing while in use. No collisions, crashes, injuries or deaths have been reported as of this date.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Utility Vehicles, please do not use them. Kindly contact an authorized Polaris dealer to schedule a free inspection for your Utility Vehicles and repair as necessary. Polaris is also notifying dealers and contacting affected registered owners directly.

Please note: this is a joint recall from the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (“CPSC”) and Health Canada (“HCSC”).
