Canada FlagCanada/Ottawa: Beautycounter, a Santa Monica, California establishment, recalls an estimated 659 Brilliant Brow Gel (Soft Black) Cosmetics products from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected Penicillium mould/mold contamination and consequential risk of severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health hazards.

Health Canada/Santé Canada (“HCSC”) reports the recall product involves a tinted gel/emulsion that is fragrance free and intended for the eyebrows.

  • The container of the recalled Brilliant Brow Gel (Soft Black) Cosmetics products have a silver outer shell containing a wand with a brush for application and is sold with a batch/lot designation of 999210861.

According to Health Canada, this recall was initiated because the Brow Gel Cosmetics products contain a genus of the mould Penicillium. People with weakened immune systems, who suffer from pre-existing health conditions or who belong to another sensitive group may be at risk of allergic reactions and related symptoms if exposed. If Penicillium is introduced into the eye it could lead to serious and possibly life-changing eye infections.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Brow Gel Cosmetics, please do not use them. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
