UK FlagUK/London: Waitrose & Partners, a London, England establishment and a subsidiary of the John Lewis Partnership of Bracknell, Berkshire, recalls certain batch/lots of Heston branded Mushroom & Gin Sauce products from the British marketplace due to suspected mislabeling/mispackaging and consequential undeclared Mustard, a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention.

The UK Food Standards Agency (“FSA”) reports the following Sauce products are subject to recall:

  • Heston branded Mushroom & Gin Sauce, sold in 200 gram tubs with use-by dates of 14 February 2020 and 17 February 2020

==> No barcodes, UPCs, EANs or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the FSA, this recall was initiated after it was discovered that some batch/lots of Heston branded Mushroom & Gin Sauce actually contain Heston branded Bone Marrow Sauce, a food product that contains Mustard.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Heston branded Mushroom & Gin Sauce products and could be allergic to their Mustard ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-9-9, your closest hospital A&E or emergency centre equipped to properly treat Anaphylaxis.
