US NHTSA Recalls: Mercedes-Benz E63 & AMG Vehicles

Among the four (4) recalls the NHTSA announced this February comes news of the following:

Logo - Mercedes-Benz USAMercedes-Benz USA, LLC. (“MBUSA”), a Sandy Springs, Georgia establishment and subsidiary of Daimler AG of of Stuttgart, Germany, has recalled an estimated 2,518 model year 2018-2019 E63 AMG 4MATIC, E63S AMG 4MATIC Wagon, S63 AMG Cabrio 4MATIC, S63 AMG Coupe 4MATIC, and S63 AMG 4MATIC and 2019 G63 AMG 4MATIC, AMG GT63 4MATIC, AMG GT63S 4MATIC vehicles equipped with 4.0L 8-cylinder gasoline turbocharged engines marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

NHTSA Safety Notification 20V048000 reports the the oil feed line to the turbocharger may leak.

According to the NHTSA, an oil leak in the presence of an ignition source such as hot engine or exhaust components can increase the risk of a fire.

MBUSA will notify registered owners, and dealers will replace the oil feed line to the turbocharger, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin March 27, 2020. Owners may contact MBUSA Customer Service toll-free at 1-800-367-6372 during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Eastern Standard Time (“EST”). No manufacturer’s designation was listed for this recall at press time.
