According to Health Canada, the recalled Mini-Blind products do not meet Canada’s Corded Window Coverings Products Regulations and pose consequential strangulation and entanglement hazards. The various designs of the products do not properly address the hazards of exposed operating cords. Specifically, these dangling cords can form into or be left in loops by people who use them. Young children may subsequently pull the looped cords around their neck causing a strangulation and entanglement hazard.

Further, children can become entangled in Blind cords, which can quickly lead to strangulation and even death. It is for this reason why Health Canada recommends cordless window coverings. For more information on the hazard, see Blind Cord Safety here: https://www.canada.ca/en/health-canada/services/home-safety/blind-cord-safety.html.

Health Canada has reported that the recalled Mini-Blinds products are known to have be sold from 2009 to 2019, manufactured by B&B Blinds and installed in homes in Alberta.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Mini-Blind products, please do not use them. Instead, immediately keep all cords away from children and contact B&B Blinds for instructions on how to permanently make-safe these Blinds.

If you have any further questions, comments or complaints about this recall, please contact B&B Blinds at 1-403-243-0815 from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM Eastern Standard Time, Monday to Friday. You can also reach the company on the Web at https://www.bbblinds.ca/contact or by e-mail at info@bbblinds.com.
