UK FlagUK/London: LIDL Great Britain Limited, a London, England establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Kania Oregano Spice products from the British marketplace due to suspected risk of due to the possible high levels of Pyrrolizidine Alkaloid contamination and consequential risk of severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health hazards.

The UK Food Standards Agency (“FSA”) reports the following Oregano Spice products are subject to recall:

  • Kania Oregano, sold in 7.5 gram bottles with a batch/lot code of 9163BE and a best-before date of June 2022

==> No barcodes, UPCs, EANs or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the FSA, Lidl GB has recalled certain batch/lots of Kania Oregano Spice due to the possible presence of high levels of Pyrrolizidine Alkaloids.

Pyrrolizidine Alkaloids are naturally occurring; however, prolonged consumption of high levels can lead to liver disease. Consequently, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Kania Oregano Spice identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Kania Oregano Spice products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Oregano to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
