Australia FlagAustralia/Canberra: Wintulichs Pty Ltd, a Gawler, South Australia establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Metwurst branded Sausage products from the Australian marketplace due to suspected incorrect pH and water activity levels, possible spoilage and and consequential risk of bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health hazards.

The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (“ACCC”) reports the following Sausage products are subject to this recall:

  • Metwurst Garlic Sausage, sold in 300 gram packages with an APN/EAN of 9311007000148
  • Metwurst Garlic Sausage, sold in 375 gram packages with an APN/EAN of 9311007000841
  • Metwurst Garlic Sausage, sold in 500 gram packages with an APN/EAN of 9311007000445
  • Metwurst Garlic Sausage, sold in 700 gram packages with an APN/EAN of 9311007000452
  • Metwurst Plain Sausage, sold in 700 gram packages with an APN/EAN of 9311007010840
  • Metwurst Pepperoni Sausage, sold in 375 gram packages with an APN/EAN of 931771700201

According to the ACCC, Wintulichs has recalled certain batch/lots of Metwurst branded Sausage products from the Australian marketplace due to suspected incorrect pH and water activity levels with possible spoilage. You should neither serve nor consume the recalled Sausage products identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household rubbish, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the recalled Sausage products, please do not use consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 0-0-0, your closest hospital or emergency centre equipped to properly treat bacterial poisonings.
