Australia FlagAustralia/Canberra: ALDI Stores, a Prestons, New South Wales establishment and subsidiary of German food conglomerate ALDI Süd, recalls certain batch/lots of Remano branded Basil Pesto and Remano branded Sun-Dried Tomato Pesto products from the Australian marketplace due to undeclared Peanuts, a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention.

Additional information:
The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (“ACCC”) reports the following Remano branded Pesto are subject to this recall:

  • Remano branded Basil Pesto, sold in 190 gram jars with a product number of 61464; affected batch/lots: all current batch/lots
  • Remano branded Sun-Dried Tomato Pesto, sold in 190 gram jars with a product number of 61463; affected batch/lots: all current batch/lots

==> No barcodes, UPCs, APNs or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the ACCC, this recall was initiated due to the presence of undeclared Peanut in the Remano branded Pesto products.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household rubbish, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Remano branded Basil Pesto and Remano branded Sun-Dried Tomato Pesto and could be allergic to their Peanut ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
