UK FlagUK/London: Cow & Gate, a Trowbridge, Wiltshire establishment and Tesco Stores, a Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire establishment, recalls all current batch/lots of 15 varieties of 7+ month Cow & Gate Baby Food Jars sold at Tesco Stores from the British marketplace due to suspected risk of unspecified product tampering and consequential risk of fragment contamination and/or poisoning with consequential risk of choking, oral injury, internal ingestion and GI tract laceration damage, all serious health and safety hazards.

The UK Food Standards Agency (“FSA”) reports the following Baby Food products are subject to recall (in alphabetical order):

  • Cow & Gate Butternut Squash Chicken & Pasta 7+ months Baby Food, sold in 200 gram jars; affected batch/lots: all current batch/lots and all best-before dates
  • Cow & Gate Courgette & Hake Rice 7+ months Baby Food, sold in 200 gram jars; affected batch/lots: all current batch/lots and all best-before dates

==> No barcodes, UPCs, EANs or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the FSA, Cow & Gate and Tesco has recalled fifteen (15) varieties of 7+ month Cow & Gate Baby Food jars sold by Tesco Stores in the UK due to possible product tampering. You should neither serve nor consume the recalled Baby Food products identified above.

In general, if bone, glass, metal, plastic and/or rubber fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Cow & Gate Baby Food, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Baby Food to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-9-9, your closest hospital A&E or emergency centre equipped to properly treat poisonings, choking, oral injury, internal ingestion and GI tract laceration damage.
