Logo - Toyota Motor Engineering & ManufacturingToyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (“Toyota”), a Plano Texas establishment and subsidiary of Toyota Motor Corporation, a Toyota City, Japan establishment, has recalled an estimated 2,891,976 model year 2011-2019 Corolla, 2011-2013 Matrix, 2012-2018 Avalon and 2013-2018 Avalon Hybrid vehicles marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

NHTSA Safety Notification 20V024000 reports that during certain crashes, the Air Bag Electronic Control Unit (“ECU”) may malfunction, possibly disabling the deployment of the air bags and/or seat belt pretensioners.

Toyota will notify registered owners, and dealers will inspect the ECU and install a noise filter between the air bag control module and its wire harness, as necessary, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin March 17, 2020. Owners may contact Toyota Customer Service toll-free at 1-888-270-9371. Toyota’s designation for this recall are 20TB03 and 20TA03.
