Australia FlagAustralia/Canberra: Nestle Australia Ltd, a Rhodes New South Wales establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Uncle Tobys branded Fruit Flavoured Roll-Up products from the Australian marketplace due to suspected Metal Fragment Contamination and consequential risk of choking, oral injury, internal ingestion and GI tract laceration damage, all serious health and safety hazards.

The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (“ACCC”) reports the following Fruit Flavoured Roll-Up products are subject to this recall:

  • Uncle Tobys branded Fruit Flavoured Passionfruit Roll-Ups, sold in 94 gram boxes with a best-before date code of 01 JUL 2020 and a batch/lot number 93383607
  • Uncle Tobys branded Fruit Flavoured Rainbow Berry Roll-Ups , sold in 94 gram boxes with best-before date codes of 02 JUL 2020, 06 JUL 2020 and 07 JUL 2020 and a batch/lot number 93393607, 93433607 and 93443607
  • Uncle Tobys branded Fruit Flavoured Rainbow Fruit Salad Roll-Ups, sold in 94 gram boxes with best-before date codes of 29 JUN 2020, 30 JUN 2020, 01 JUL 2020 and 13 JUL 2020 and a batch/lot number 93363607, 93373607, 93383607 and 93503607
  • Uncle Tobys branded Fruit Flavoured Funprints Strawberry Roll-Ups, sold in 94 gram boxes with a best-before date code of 08 JUL 2020, 09 JUL 2020 and 14 JUL 2020 and batch/lot numbers 93453607, 93463607 and 93513607

==> No barcodes, UPCs, APNs or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the ACCC, this recall is due to the presence of metal fragments contamination. You should neither serve nor consume the recalled Uncle Tobys branded Fruit Flavoured Roll-Ups identified above.

In general, if plastic or metal fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household rubbish, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the recalled Uncle Tobys branded Fruit Flavoured Passionfruit Roll-Ups, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
