UK FlagUK/London: Sainsbury’s Supermarkets Ltd, a London, England establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of by Sainsbury’s branded Mini Egg Bites from the British marketplace due to undeclared Egg and Mustard, both known allergens, sources of dietary intolerance and possible triggers of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention.

The UK Food Standards Agency (“FSA”) reports the following Egg Bite Baked Goods are subject to recall:

  • by Sainsbury’s branded 18 Mini Egg Bites, sold in 186 gram trays with a use-by date of 17th December. While these products are past their use-by dates, they may be in consumer freezers. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase for refund.

==> No barcodes, EANs, UPCs or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the FSA, Sainsbury’s is recalling by Sainsbury’s 18 Mini Egg Bites because they contain Egg and Mustard, ingredients not mentioned on the product label. This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to Egg, and/or an allergy to Mustard. The product also contains Pork, an ingredient not mentioned in the ingredients list.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Sainsbury’s Mini Egg Bites and could be allergic to their Egg and/or Mustard ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-9-9, your closest hospital A&E or emergency centre equipped to properly treat Anaphylaxis.
