Canada/Ottawa: The Italian Store, a Calgary, Alberta establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Scarpone’s Italian Store branded Frozen Ground Veal products from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected of Escherichia Coli (E. coli) O157:H7 contamination contamination and consequential risk of Gram-negative bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health hazards.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Ground Veal products are subject to this recall:

  • Scarpone’s Italian Store branded Frozen Ground Veal, sold in variable sizes; product codes: all codes starting with: 0 200904 and sold between December 23, 2019 and January 13, 2020, inclusive at The Italian Store, 5140 Skyline Way NE, Calgary, Alberta

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the CFIA, The Italian Store has recalled certain Scarpone’s Italian Store branded Frozen Ground Veal products from the Canadian marketplace due to possible E. coli O157:H7 contamination. You should neither serve nor consume the recalled Ground Veal products identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Ground Veal products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat E. coli poisonings.
