US FlagUS/Washington: Profile Design, a Carson, California establishment, recalls an estimated 260 Aeria Ultimate Carbon Bicycle Aerobars from the American marketplace due to suspected structural failure and consequential risk of falls, bone fractures, lacerations and/or concussions.

Additional information:
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (“CPSC”) reports this recall involves certain Profile Design Aeria Ultimate Carbon Aerobars sold individually and as an original equipment upgrade on consumer configurable Dimond Brand Bikes and Quintana Roo model Bicycles.

  • The Aerobars were sold in one size and are all matte black in color. The brands, “Profile Design” and “Ultimate” are embossed in gloss black on the top of the rear edge of the Aerobars. The best way to identify recalled handlebars is to measure the uncut hand extensions from the leading edge of wing to tip of hand extension (where brake lever is placed). On recalled bars it this measurement is 13.6 cm (5.3 inches) measured from leading edge of wing.

According to the CPSC, the Bicycle Aerobars can crack and break, causing the rider to lose control and crash.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Profile Design Aeria Ultimate Carbon Aerobars, please do not use them. Instead, kindly contact Profile Design for instructions to receive a free replacement Aerobars product from your local retailer.
