US NHTSA Recalls: Mercedes-Benz Vehicles

Among the eleven (11) recalls the NHTSA announced this month comes news of the following:

Logo - Mercedes-Benz USA, LLCMercedes-Benz USA, LLC (“MBUSA”), a Sandy Springs, Georgia establishment and subsidiary of Daimler AG of of Stuttgart, Germany, has recalled an estimated 744,852 model year 2001-2011 vehicles marketed, sold and delivered in the United States. NHTSA Safety Notification 19V918000 reports the bonding between the glass panel and the sliding roof frame may deteriorate, possibly resulting in the glass panel detaching from the vehicle.

According to the NHTSA, a detached glass panel can separate from the vehicle and become a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.

MBUSA will notify registered owners, and dealers will inspect the glass panel bonding and replace the sliding roof, as necessary, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin February 14, 2020. Owners may contact MBUSA customer service at toll-free 1-800-367-6372 during normal business hours, Eastern Standard Time Monday to Friday. No manufacturer’s designation was listed for this recall at press time.
