US FlagUS/Washington: J&J Distributing, a St. Paul, Minnesota establishment, recalls an estimated 136 pounds of ready-to-eat Kowalski’s Markets branded Salad products from the American marketplace due to undeclared Pine Nuts, a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention.

Additional information:
The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following Salad products were produced on various dates from December 21, 2019 through December 27, 2019. are subject to this recall:

  • Kowalski’s Markets branded Sicilian Chopped Salads, sold in 14-ounce plastic sealed cartons with a sell-by dates ranging from 12/27 to 01/02 inclusive
  • Kowalski’s Markets branded Italian Steakhouse Cobb Salads, sold in 14-ounce plastic sealed cartons with a sell-by dates ranging from 12/27 to 01/02 inclusive

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the USDA, the products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. 38450” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items are known to have shipped to retail locations in Minnesota.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Kowalski’s Markets branded products and could be allergic to their Pine Nut ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them. Instead, return the product to the distributor or wholesaler where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat Anaphylaxis.
