According to the FDA, Dierbergs Markets has recalled certain batch/lots of ready-to-eat Dierbergs Markets branded Egg based products from the American marketplace due to suspected Listeria monocytogenes contamination. You should neither serve nor consume the recalled Sandwiches identified above.

This notification was initiated as a knock-on recall from Dierbergs Markets’ primary supplier Almark Foods, a Gainesville, Georgia establishment, because Almark Foods supplied certain lots of Eggs that may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. These Eggs are thought to be the source of an ongoing Listeria monocytogenes foodborne illness investigation.

Dierbergs Markets has recalled the above Egg products in all of its 25 retail stores because the Hardboiled Egg products have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. Almark’s Eggs are currently associated with an outbreak of Listeriosis illness consisting of seven (7) known illnesses in five (5) states.

==> For information about Listeriosis (Listeria poisoning), please consult the “Illnesses” tab on this site, located at the top of this page.

If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Egg Salad Sandwiches, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Sandwiches to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
