US NHTSA Recalls: Chrysler Dodge Viper Vehicles

Among the 87 (eighty seven) recalls the NHTSA announced this month comes news of the following:

Logo - Chrysler (FCA US LLC)Chrysler (FCA US LLC), an Auburn Hills, Michigan establishment and a subsidiary of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV of Amsterdam, Netherlands has recalled an estimated 3,329 model year 2005-2006 Dodge Viper vehicles marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

NHTSA Safety Notification 19V885000 reports that the Occupant Restraint Control (“ORC”) module may inadvertently deploy the air bags and/or seat belt pretensioners.

According to the NHTSA, the unexpected deployment of the air bags and/or seat belt pretensioners increase the risk of injury and a crash.

Chrysler will notify registered owners, and dealers will replace the ORC module, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin January 31, 2020. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service toll-free at 1-800-853-1403 during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Eastern Standard Time (“EST”). Chrysler’s designation for this recall is VE4.
