US FlagUS/Washington: AdvancePierre Foods, Inc., an Cincinnati, Ohio recalls 15,739 pounds of ready-to-eat (“RTE”) CN branded Beef Patties due to suspected plastic fragment contamination and consequential risk of choking, oral injury, internal ingestion and GI tract laceration damage, all serious health and safety hazards.

The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following Beef Patty products were produced on or about September 11, 2019 and are subject to this recall:

  • CN branded Fully Cooked Flamebroiled Beef Patties, sold in 15.09 pound frozen, bulk-packed cases with a case code of 6909.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the USDA, the Beef products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. 2132” inside the USDA mark of inspection.

These items were shipped to food service locations US nationwide. While the product was distributed to schools, it resulted from a commercial sale and was not part of food provided by the USDA for the National School Lunch Program. The recalled Beef Patties were not known to have been sold in retail stores.

The problem was discovered after Advance Pierre Foods received a complaint from a foodservice establishment concerning green soft plastic found in a patty.

In general, if plastic or glass fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the recalled Beef Patty products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
