Australia FlagAustralia/Canberra: Ultimo Trading Pty Ltd trading as Orange Supermarket Ultimo, a Sydney, New South Wales establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Mini Jelly Cups Lychee Coconut Jelly from the Australian marketplace due to the presence of Konjac, an ingredient not permitted in Jelly Confectionery Products in Australia due to the risk of choking and/or airway obstruction, both serious health and safety hazards.

Additional information:
The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (“ACCC”) reports the following Jelly Cup confectionery products are subject to this recall:

  • Lychee Coconut Jelly, sold in 420 gram plastic pouches with Mini Jelly Cups

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation.

According to the ACCC, Jelly Cups and similar products containing Konjac are permanently banned in Australia due to choking risk. Konjac does not dissolve easily when eaten: if a jelly lodges in a person’s throat, it can act as a plug that cuts off air supply

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household rubbish, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Orange Supermarket Mini Jelly Cups Lychee Coconut Jelly products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
