Coaticook Cheddar Cheese Recall [Canada]

Canada/Ottawa: Laiterie Coaticook Ltée, a Coaticook, Quebec establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Coaticook branded Cheddar Cheese products from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected of Listeria monocytogenes contamination and consequential risk of Gram-positive bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health hazards.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Cheddar Cheese products are subject to this recall:

  • Coaticook branded Mild Cheddar Cheese, sold in 50 gram packages with a best-before date code of 03MR20 and a UPC of 0 59263 60050 2
  • Coaticook branded Mild Cheddar Cheese, sold in 180 gram packages with a best-before date code of 03MR20 and a UPC of 0 59263 60180 6
  • Coaticook branded Mild Cheddar Cheese, sold in 320 gram packages with a best-before date code of 03MR20 and a UPC of 0 59263 60320 6
  • Coaticook branded Mild Cheddar Cheese, sold in 2.27 kilogram packages with a best-before date code of 03MR20 and a UPC starting with 0 260005
  • Coaticook branded Mild Cheddar Cheese, sold in 1.15 kilogram packages with a best-before date code of 03MR20 and a UPC starting with 0 260025
  • Coaticook branded Bloc Cheddar Cheese, sold in variable sized packages with a best-before date code of 03MR20 and a UPC starting with 0 260001
  • Coaticook branded Pointe Cheddar Cheese, sold in variable sized packages with a best-before date code of 03MR20 and a UPC starting with 0 250006

According to the CFIA, Laiterie Coaticook Ltée, has recalled certain batch/lots of Coaticook branded Cheddar Cheese products from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected of Listeria monocytogenes contamination. You should neither serve nor consume the recalled Cheese products identified above.

==> For information about Listeriosis (Listeria poisoning), please consult the “Illnesses” tab on this site, located at the top of this page.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Coaticook branded Cheddar Cheese products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat bacterial poisonings such as Listeriosis.
