Australia FlagAustralia/Canberra: Brauer Natural Medicine Pty Ltd, a Tanunda, South Australia establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Brauer Baby & Child Teething Gel products from the Australian marketplace due to suspected Burkholderia spp contamination and consequential risk of Gram-negative bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health hazards.

Additional information:
The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (“ACCC”) reports the following Teething Gel products are subject to this recall:

  • Brauer Baby & Child Teething Gel, a natural medicine used to reduce the discomfort caused by teething in babies/infants ranging in age from 0 to 6 months+ and sold in 20 gram plastic tubes with a batch/lot of 809057 and an expiry date of September 2020.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, APNs or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the ACCC, the recall is due to suspected Burkholderia spp contamination found through testing samples of this batch/lot. Burkholderia may cause illness in babies and small children, healthy people and people with compromised immune systems. You should neither serve nor consume the recalled Teething Gel products identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm product contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food or drug, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household rubbish, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the recalled Brauer Baby & Child Teething Gel products, please do not use them for your child. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund. You can also contact Brauer Customer Service to arrange product return and a refund.
