Canada/Ottawa: Logo - Greenworld Food Express IncGreenworld Food Express Inc., a Mississauga, Ontario establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Dried Figs Lerida from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected insect fragment contamination and consequential risk of choking, bacterial infection, oral injury, internal ingestion and GI tract laceration damage, all serious health and safety hazards.

Additional information:
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Dried Fig products are subject to this recall:

  • Dried Figs Lerida, Size 5, sold in one (1) kilogram containers with a batch/lot designation of 090048474/2-11-99, a best-before date code of 2021 FE 01 and a UPC of 8 26988 70843 7

According to the CFIA, Greenworld Food Express has recalled certain batch/lots of Dried Figs Lerida from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected insect fragment contamination. You should neither serve nor consume the recalled Dried Fig products identified above.

In general, if insect, plastic or metal fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal. In addition, insect fragments also carry a risk of bacterial infection with possible life-changing consequences.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to handle choking, bacterial infection, oral injury, internal ingestion and/or GI tract laceration damage.
