US FlagUS/Washington: Stanley Black & Decker, Inc., a Towson, Maryland establishment, recalls an estimated 211,000 Black & Decker branded Wooden Handle Nailing Hammers sold exclusively at Walmart in the American marketplace due to suspected structural failure and consequential risk of component detachment, laceration, bone fracture and property damage, all serious health hazards.

Additional information:
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (“CPSC”) reports this recall involves certain Stanley branded 16-ounce branded Wooden Handle Nailing Hammers, sold with a model number of STHT51454 etched below the Stanley logo on the steel hammer head.

  • The recalled Stanley Hammers have a metal head, a natural wood handle with a black over-molded grip. The brand, Stanley, is printed on the wooden handle in black and on the steel hammer head. A UPC of 076174514544 is located on a label on the handle.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the CPSC, the molded grip on the Hammer can come loose, posing an injury hazard to consumers. Stanley Black & Decker has received one (1) report of the Hammer’s grip coming loose. No injuries have been reported.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Wooden Handle Nailing Hammers, please do not use them. Instead, kindly return them to Walmart to receive a refund in the form of a Walmart gift card for the purchase price.
