US NHTSA Recalls: Ford Lincoln MKX Vehicles

Among the sixty eight (68) recalls the NHTSA announced this month comes news of the following:

Logo - Ford Motor CompanyFord Motor Company (“Ford”), a Dearborn, Michigan establishment, has recalled an estimated 54,411 model year 2016-2017 Lincoln MKX vehicles equipped with 3.7L engines marketed, sold and delivered in the United States

NHTSA Safety Notification 19V809000 reports the battery positive cable harness may contact the transmission shifter cable bracket resulting in a short circuit.

According to the NHTSA, an electrical short increases the risk of a fire.

Ford will notify registered owners, and dealers will remove the battery harness clips and elbow guide, and install a wire channel shield and protective sleeve to the battery cable harness, free of charge. Interim notices informing owners of the safety risk are scheduled to begin mailing on December 2, 2019.

Owners will receive a second notice when the remedy becomes available, currently expected to be in the first quarter of 2020. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Eastern Standard Time (“EST”). Ford’s designation for this recall is 19S41.
