US FlagUS/Silver Spring: Euroline Foods LLC, a Staten Island, New York establishment has recalled certain batch/lots of Dry Fruit Mix Quince Compote products from the American marketplace due to undeclared Sulfites, a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention.

Additional information:
The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Fruit Mix Quince Compote products are subject to this recall:

  • Dry Fruit Mix Quince Compote, sold in 17.65 ounce (~500 gram), clear plastic bags marked with a packaging code of 27032019 and a UPC of 4605932006203

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation.

According to the FDA, this recall was initiated after routine sampling by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors and subsequent analysis by Food Laboratory personnel revealed the presence of Sulfites in the 17.65-ounce (~500 gram) packages of Dry Fruit Mix Quince Compote, an ingredient not declared on the label.

The consumption of ten (10) milligrams of Sulfites per serving has been reported to elicit severe reaction in some people with Asthma. Anaphylactic Shock, a serious and potentially fatal situation, could occur in certain Sulfite-sensitive individuals upon ingesting ten (10) milligrams or more of Sulfites. Analysis of the Dry Fruit Mix Quince Compote revealed they contained 31.7 mg per serving. Consequently, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Fruit Mix Quince Compote products identified above.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Fruit Mix Quince Compote products and could be allergic to their Sulfite ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Fruit Mix Quince Compote products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Quince Compote to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
