US FlagUS/Washington: Rastelli Bros., Inc., doing business as Rastelli Foods Group, a Swedesboro, New Jersey establishment, recalls an estimated 130,464 pounds of Nature’s Rancher 100% Grass Fed Organic branded Raw Ground Beef products due to suspected plastic fragment and consequential risk of choking, oral injury, internal ingestion and GI tract laceration damage, all serious health and safety hazards.

Additional information:
The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following Raw Ground Beef products were produced from October 3, 2019 through October 15, 2019 are subject to this recall:

  • Nature’s Rancher 100% Grass Fed Organic Ground Beef 85% Lean, 15% Fat, sold in 16-ounce vacuum sealed packages containing with case code including 9276, 9283, 9287, or 9288 and use-by or freeze-by dates of 10/24/19, 10/31/19, 11/04/19, 11/07/19 and 11/11/19.
  • Nature’s Rancher 100% Grass Fed Organic Ground Beef 93% Lean, 7% Fat, sold in 16-ounce vacuum sealed packages containing with case code including 9276, 9283, 9287 or 9288 and use-by or freeze-by dates of 10/24/19, 10/31/19, 11/04/19, 11/07/19 and 11/11/19.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the USDA, the products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. 7877-A” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to distribution centers and further sent to retail locations in Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Illinois and Maryland.

The problem was discovered after FSIS received consumer complaints through the USDA Meat and Poultry Hotline. The firm also notified US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (“FSIS”) that they received a consumer complaint directly. You should neither serve nor consume the recalled Nature’s Rancher 100% Grass Fed Organic Beef products identified above.

In general, if plastic or metal fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the recalled Organic Beef, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
