Canada/Ottawa: Logo - The Canadian Food Inspection AgencyDenis Losier, a Tracadie, New Brunswick establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Lobster in Brine and Crab in Brine products due to suspected Clostridium botulinum contamination and consequential risk of Gram-positive bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health hazards.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Seafood products are subject to this recall:

  • Lobster in Brine, sold in 250 mL or 500 mL Mason jars; affected batch/lots: all units marketed in the Canadian provinces of New Brunswick and Quebec up to and including November 13, 2019. The Mason jars containing Lobster in Brine were sold at Marché G & D, 1006 Saint-Laurent Blvd., Montréal, Quebec and distributed in New Brunswick by Denis Losier, Tracadie, New Brunswick.
  • Crab in Brine, sold in 250 mL or 500 mL Mason jars; affected batch/lots: all units marketed in the Canadian provinces of New Brunswick and Quebec up to and including November 13, 2019. The Mason jars containing Lobster in Brine were sold at Marché G & D, 1006 Saint-Laurent Blvd., Montréal, Quebec and distributed in New Brunswick by Denis Losier, Tracadie, New Brunswick.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the CFIA, Denis Losier has recalled certain batch/lots of Lobster in Brine and Crab in Brine products, sold in jars with no labels, from the Canadian marketplace because they may permit the growth of Clostridium botulinum. You should neither serve nor consume the recalled Seafood identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Lobster in Brine and/or Crab in Brine products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat bacterial poisoning such as Botulism.
