Australia FlagAustralia/Canberra: David Jones Pty Limited, a Melbourne, Victoria establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of David Jones Belgian Chocolate Brownie products due to undeclared Walnuts, a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention.

Additional information:
The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (“ACCC”) reports the following Brownie products are subject to this recall:

  • Baked Chocolate Brownies, sold in 60 gram packages with a best-before date of 15NOV19 and a UPC of 2532698097539
  • Baked Chocolate Brownies, sold in 270 gram packages with a best-before date of 21NOV19 and a UPC of 2532698097584

According to the ACCC, this recall was initiated due to the presence of undeclared Tree Nuts, specifically Walnuts.

==> For information about Nut Allergy (including Peanuts and Tree Nuts such as Walnuts), please consult the “Allergens & Intolerances” tab at the top of this page.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household rubbish, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Brownie products and could be allergic to their Walnut ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 0-0-0, your closest hospital or emergency centre equipped to properly treat Anaphylaxis.
