The UK Food Standards Agency (“FSA”) reports the following Houmous products are subject to recall (in alphabetical order):

  • Aldi’s The Deli brand Reduced Fat Houmous Classic Triple Pack, sold in 180 gram packages (3 by 60 gram tubs) with a use-by date of 3 November 2019
  • Aldi’s The Deli brand Reduced Fat Houmous Selection Triple Pack, sold in 180 gram packages (3 by 60 gram tubs) 3 November 2019
  • Asda Beetroot Houmous, sold in 170 gram tubs with use-by dates of 3 November 2019 and 7 November 2019
  • Asda Extra Special Roasted Red Pepper Houmous, sold in 170 gram tubs with a use-by date of 31 October 2019
  • Asda Extra Special Extra Virgin Olive Oil Houmous Pack, sold in 170 gram tubs with use-by dates of 31 October 2019 and 1 November 2019
  • Asda Houmous Packs, sold in 200 gram tubs with a use-by date of 6 November 2019
  • Asda 30% less fat Houmous Stacker (plain), sold in 180 gram packages (3 by 60 gram tubs) with a use-by date of 4 November 2019
  • Asda 30% less fat Houmous Stacker (flavoured), sold in 180 gram packages (3 by 60 gram tubs) with a use-by date of 4 November 2019
  • Asda Carrot Sticks & Houmous, sold in 125 gram tubs with a use-by date of 28 October 2019, 29 October 2019, 30 October 2019, 31 October 2019
  • Houmous with Nando’s PERi-PERi drizzle, sold in 170 gram tubs with use-by dates of 29 October 2019, 30 October 2019, 31 October 2019, 1 November 2019, 2 November 2019, 3 November 2019 and 4 November 2019
  • Lidl’s Meadow Fresh Red Pepper Houmous, sold in 170 gram tubs with a use-by date of 6 November 2019
  • Lidl’s Meadow Fresh Houmous Selection, sold in 180 gram packages (3 by 60 gram tubs) with a use-by date of 6 November 2019
  • Morrisons Avocado Houmous, sold in 200 gram tubs with a use-by date of 4 November 2019
  • Morrisons The Best Pesto and Parmesan Houmous, sold in 150 gram tubs with a use-by date of 4 November 2019
  • On the Go Sweet Potato Falafel with Houmous (Sainsbury’s Food to go range), sold in 250 gram tubs with use-by dates of 29 October 2019, 30 October 2019, 31 October 2019 and 1 November 2019
  • On the Go Carrots & Houmous (Sainsburys Food to go range), sold in 130 gram tubs with use-by dates of 28 October 2019, 29 October 2019 and 30 October 2019
  • Spar Houmous, sold in 170 gram tubs with a use-by date of 6 November 2019

==> No barcodes, UPCs, EANs or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the FSA, Zorba Delicacies Limited has recalled various brands and flavours of Houmous products because the products may contain Salmonella. You should neither serve nor consume the recalled Houmous products identified above.

==> For information about Salmonellosis (Salmonella poisoning), please consult the “Illnesses” tab on this site, located at the top of this page.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Houmous products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Houmous products to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-9-9, your closest hospital A&E or emergency centre equipped to properly treat bacterial poisoning such as Salmonellosis.
