US FlagUS/Washington: Simmons Prepared Foods, Inc., a Gentry, Arkansas establishment, recalls an estimated 2,071,397 pounds of Simmons branded Poultry products due to suspected metal fragment contamination and consequential risk of choking, oral injury, internal ingestion and GI tract laceration damage, all serious health and safety hazards.

The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following Poultry products were produced from October 21, 2019 through November 4, 2019 and are subject to this recall:

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and wholesale presentation. Additional images of the recalled Poultry products can be found on the Web site above.

According to the USDA, the products subject to recall bear establishment number “P-1949”, “P-486” or “P-5837” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to institutions in Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Georgia, Minnesota, Oklahoma and Pennsylvania. The problem was discovered by Simmons establishments during further processing. You should neither serve nor consume the recalled Poultry products identified above.

In general, if plastic or metal fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the recalled Poultry products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
