Bavarian Premium Meats Headcheese Recall [Canada]

Canada/Ottawa: Bavarian Link Meat Products Ltd. (EST. 598), a North Bay, Ontario establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Bavarian Premium Meats branded Headcheese due to undeclared Mustard, a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Meat products are subject to this recall:

  • Bavarian Premium Meats Headcheese, a product comprised of meat from a pig’s or calf’s head that is cooked and pressed into a loaf with aspic, sold in variable sized packages ranging from approximately five (5) to six (6) kilogram loaves with a UPC of 6 25787 00501 9; affected batch/lots: all codes where Mustard has not been declared on the label. Please note: this product was sold clerk-served from deli counters with or without a label or coding. If you are unsure if you have purchased the recalled Headcheese product, please contact your retailer.

According to the CFIA, Bavarian Link Meat Products has recalled certain batch/lots of Bavarian Premium Meats brand Headcheese products from the Canadian marketplace because they contains Mustard, an ingredient that was not declared on the product label. People with an allergy to Mustard should not consume the recalled product identified above.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Bavarian Premium Meats brand Headcheese products and could be allergic to their Mustard ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat Anaphylaxis.
