US NHTSA Recalls: Chrysler RAM 1500 Pickup Trucks

Among the 69 (sixty nine) recalls the NHTSA announced this past month comes news of the following:

Logo - ChryslerChrysler (FCA US LLC), an Auburn Hills, Michigan establishment, has recalled an estimated 107,979 model year 2014-2019 RAM 1500 and RAM 1500 Classic Pickup Trucks equipped with 3.0L Eco Diesel engines marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Logo - RAM TrucksNHTSA Safety Notification 19V757000 reports the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (“EGR”) cooler in the recalled vehicles may crack and allow pre-heated vaporized coolant to enter the EGR system. If this defect occurs, this mixture may combust inside the intake manifold.

According to the NHTSA, combustion in the intake manifold can increase the risk of a fire.

The remedy for this recall is still under development but is expected to begin on or about December 13, 2019. Owners may contact 1-Chrysler customer service toll-free at 1-800-853-1403 during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Eastern Standard Time (“EST”). Chrysler’s designation for this recall is VB1.
