Canada/Ottawa: Mannarich Foods Inc., a Toronto, Ontario establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Mannarich Foods branded Fishballs due to suspected Clostridium botulinum contamination and consequential risk of Gram-positive bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health hazards.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Fishball products are subject to this recall:

  • Mannarich Foods branded Fishballs – Previously Frozen, sold in 180 gram packages; affected batch/lot codes: all units sold up to and including October 21, 2019 with a UPC of 0 68636 03040 2
  • Mannarich Foods branded Premium Cuttlefish Balls – Previously Frozen, sold in 180 gram packages; affected batch/lot codes: all units sold up to and including October 21, 2019 with a UPC of 0 68636 02030 4
  • Mannarich Foods branded Lobster Flavored Fishballs – Previously Frozen, sold in 180 gram packages; affected batch/lot codes: all units sold up to and including October 21, 2019 with a UPC of 0 68636 03430 1
  • Mannarich Foods branded Fishballs with Shrimp – Previously Frozen, sold in 180 gram packages; affected batch/lot codes: all units sold up to and including October 21, 2019 with a UPC of 0 68636 02011 3

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the CFIA, Mannarich Foods has recalled certain batch/lots of Fishball products from the Canadian marketplace because they may permit the growth of Clostridium botulinum. You should neither serve nor consume the recalled Fishballs identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Mannarich Foods branded Fishballs, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat bacterial such as Botulism.
