Golden Dragon Chinese Almond Cookie Recall [US]

US FlagUS/Silver Spring: Golden Dragon Fortune Cookies Inc., a Chicago, Illinois establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Golden Dragon branded Chinese Almond Cookies due to undeclared Milk, a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention.

The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Almond Cookie products are subject to this recall:

  • The recalled Golden Dragon branded Chinese Almond Cookies are packaged in five (5) pound boxes that contain five (5) – 100 count plastic bags of the Almond Cookies. Affected consumers may have purchased the Cookies in either the five (5) pound box form factor or in 100-count plastic bag form factor. Both the five (5) pound boxes and 100-count plastic bags have the same UPC of 0 80005 23031 2 and have identical best-if-used-before date codes of 3/20.

According to the FDA, this recall was initiated after it was discovered during an FDA inspection that the Golden Dragon Fortune branded Chinese Almond Cookies were distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of Milk. The product formula has been changed and Milk is no longer used in the production of these Almond Cookies.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Golden Dragon Fortune branded Chinese Almond Cookies and could be allergic to their Milk ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat Anaphylaxis.
