Among the fifty-nine (59) recalls the NHTSA has announced this October comes news of the following:

Logo - Daimler Trucks North America LLCDaimler Trucks North America LLC (“DTNA”), a Portland, Oregon establishment and a subsidiary of Daimler AG, has recalled an estimated 15,160 model year 2016-2019 Mercedes-Benz Metris vehicles marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Logo - Mercedes-BenzUS NHTSA Safety Notification 19V715000 reports the integrated backup battery compartment located underneath the front passenger’s seat of the recalled vehicles may not have its own cover, potentially exposing the battery when the seat is moved forward.

According to the NHTSA, if conductive material, such as metal, unintentionally drops into the opening and contacts the terminals on the battery, an electrical short can occur, increasing the risk of a fire.

DVUSA will notify registered owners, and Mercedes-Benz dealers will install covers over the battery compartment area, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin November 22, 2019. Owners may contact DVUSA customer service at 1-877-762-8267 during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Eastern Standard Time (“EST”). DVUSA’s designation for this recall is VS2SITZAB.
