US FlagUS/Washington: Taylor’s Sausage Inc., a Cave Junction, Oregon establishment, recalls an estimated 641 pounds of ready-to-eat Taylor’s branded Meat and Poultry Sausage products due to suspected misbabelling and consequential undeclared Pork and/or Sheep Casings, both known allergens, sources of dietary restriction and/or intolerance and possible triggers of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention.

Additional information:
The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following Meat and Poultry Sausage products were packaged on June 26, 2019, August 6, 2019, August 16, 2019, September 5, 2019 and October 10, 2019 and are now subject to this recall:

  • Taylor’s Sausage branded Smoked Chicken and Apple Sausages, sold in 16-ounce vacuum-sealed packages containing fully cooked, ready-to-eat Sausages with batch/lot code numbers including 19217, 19176 or 19282
  • Taylor’s branded Sausage Cheddar Dogs, sold in 16-ounce vacuum-sealed packages containing fully cooked, ready-to-eat Sausages with batch/lot code numbers including 19247 or 19217

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the USDA, the Sausage products subject to recall bear establishment number “6172” or “P-6172” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were sold at retail locations in California and Oregon. The problem was discovered by US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (“FSIS”) personnel during routine inspection activities.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Taylor’s branded Meat and Poultry Sausage products and could be allergic to their Pork or Sheep Casing ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them. Instead, return the product to the distributor or wholesaler where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.
