Canada/Ottawa: Longo Brothers Fruit Markets Inc., (“Longo’s), a Vaughan, Ontario establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Longo’s branded ready-to-eat Dry Sausage products and Grab N Go Trays that contain these Sausages due to suspected Salmonella contamination and consequential risk of Gram-negative bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health hazards.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Sausage products are subject to this recall:

  • Longo’s branded Filicetti Cacciatori Mild VP, sold in variable sizes – clerk served at deli counter with package codes including all packaged-on dates up to and including October 16, 2019 with a batch/lot of 611 and a UPC that begins with 00226186
  • Longo’s branded Filicetti Cacciatori Dry Mild, sold in variable sizes, with a batch/lot of 611 and a UPC that begins with 00226188
  • Longo’s branded Grab N Go Trays – Taralli Antipasti To Go, sold in variable sizes with all best-before dates up to and including October 23, 2019 and a UPC that begins with 0226209
  • Longo’s branded Grab N Go Trays – Italian Antipasti To Go, sold in variable sizes with all best-before dates up to and including October 23, 2019 and a UPC that begins with 0226208

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the CFIA, Longo’s has recalled certain batch/lots of its Longo’s branded ready-to-eat Dry Sausages products and Grab N Go Trays from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected Salmonella contamination. You should neither serve nor consume the recalled Sausage products identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Sausage products and Grab N Go Trays, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return these Sausage products to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat bacterial poisoning such as Salmonellosis.
