Australia FlagAustralia/Canberra: Core Powerfoods, an Australian establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Core Powerfoods branded Frozen Pre-prepared Meals due to suspected Salmonella weltevreden contamination and consequential risk of Gram-negative bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health hazards.

The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (“ACCC”) reports the following Frozen Meals are subject to this recall:

  • Frozen Pre-prepared Meals, sold in a 310 gram or 350 gram plastic containers and cardboard sleeves with best-before dates ranging from 26/08/2020 to 4/10/2020, as follows:
    • Going Nuts – crunchy satay chicken with rice and green beans
    • Deep South Chilli – American-style beef and chilli with rice and green beans
    • Muay Thai Meatballs – chicken meatballs with Thai curry sauce, rice and green beans
    • Holy Meatballs – lean beef meatballs with tomato sauce and wholemeal penne
    • Naked Chicken – chicken tenderloin with green beans and broccoli
    • Seismic Chicken – honey sesame chicken with broccoli and green beans
    • Old School – Portuguese-style chicken with sweet potato and green beans
    • Smokey Mountain Meatballs – hickory smoked meatballs with rice and green beans

==> No barcodes, UPCs, APNs or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the ACCC, this recall was initiated due to potential suspected Salmonella weltevreden contamination. Food products contaminated with Salmonella weltevreden may cause illness if consumed. You should neither serve nor consume the recalled Frozen Meals identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household rubbish, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the recalled Core Powerfoods branded Frozen Pre-prepared Meals, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 0-0-0, your closest hospital or emergency centre equipped to properly treat bacterial poisonings such as Salmonosis.
