US NHTSA Recalls: Starcraft Recreational Travel Trailers

Among the thirty-five (35) recalls the NHTSA has announced this October comes news of the following:

Logo - Starcraft RVStarcraft RV (“Starcraft”), a Middlebury, Indiana establishment and a subsidiary of Jayco also of Middlebury, Indiana and itself a subsidiary of Thor Industries, has recalled an estimated 10,446 model 2018 Comet Mini, 2018-2019 GPS, Autumn Ridge Outfitter, Launch Ultra Lite, Launch Outfitter 7, Autumn Ridge, Launch Outfitter, Satellite and Avalon and 2019 Mossy Oak and Mossy Oak Lite Recreational Travel Trailers marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

US NHTSA Safety Notification 19V699000 reports the fuse/circuit breaker wiring between the battery and the converter in the recalled Recreational Vehicles may have bypassed the 30 Amp fuse, creating an unprotected circuit.

According to the NHTSA, in the event of an electrical short, an unprotected circuit can increase the risk of a fire.

Starcraft will notify registered owners, and dealers will install a fuse harness assembly to protect the circuit, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin November 22, 2019. Owners may contact Starcraft customer service at 1-800-945-4787 during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Eastern Standard Time (“EST”). Starcraft’s designation for this recall is 9902439.
