US FlagUS/Washington: Global Zakii Enterprises, LLC, a Houston, Texas establishment, recalls an estimated 100 pounds of UNIUM branded Canned Meat and Canned Poultry products due to suspected production without the benefit of federal inspection and consequential risk of bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health hazards.

Additional information:
The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following Canned Meat and Canned Poultry products were imported on or about September 20, 2019 and are subject to this recall:

  • Unium branded Chicken Luncheon, sold in 800-gram cans
  • Unium branded Luncheon Meat, sold in 800-gram cans
  • Unium branded Luncheon Meat, sold in 500-gram cans
  • Unium branded Chicken Luncheon, sold in 200-gram cans
  • Unium branded Luncheon Meat, sold in 200-gram cans
  • Bishawy branded Extra Corned Beef, sold in 340-gram cans
  • Trade Mark Sharawi Extra Corned Beef Product of Brazil, sold in 7-ounce cans

According to the USDA, these items were shipped to retail locations in Texas. The problem was discovered after a consumer complaint and a subsequent investigation by US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the recalled Canned Meat and Canned Poultry products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
