US FlagUS/Silver Spring: Samurai, Inc. a Honolulu, Hawaii establishment, recalls an estimated 16,660 bags of Furikake branded Cooked Popcorn due to undeclared Fish, a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention.

Additional information:
The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Cooked Popcorn products are subject to this recall:

  • Furikake branded Cooked Popcorn, sold in 5-ounce clear plastic bags with best-by date codes of 103019, 111519, 113019 or 121519

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the FDA, Samurai has recalled certain batch/lots of Furikake branded Cooked Popcorn products due to undeclared Fish.

==> For information about Fish Allergy, please consult the “Allergens & Intolerances” tab on this site, located at the top of this page.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Furikake branded Cooked Popcorn products and could be allergic to their Fish ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat Anaphylaxis.
