US FlagUS/Washington: Kenosha Beef International, a Columbus, Ohio establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Taco Bell branded Seasoned Beef Taco and Burrito Filling due to suspected metal fragment contamination and consequential risk of choking, oral injury, internal ingestion and GI tract laceration damage, all serious health and safety hazards.

Additional information:
The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following Seasoned Beef Taco and Burrito Filling were produced on various dates from September 20, 2019 to October 4, 2019 and are subject to this recall:

  • Taco Bell branded Seasoned Beef Taco and Burrito Filling, sold in cases containing eight 5-pound plastic bags with use-by dates of “L2 11/4/19” to “L2 11/18/19”.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the USDA, the Seasoned Beef Taco and Burrito Filling products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. 10130” on the case. These items were shipped to five distribution centers, and from there shipped to restaurant locations US nationwide.

The problem was discovered when the firm notified US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (“FSIS”) on October 12, 2019, that it received three (3) customer complaints. You should neither serve nor consume the recalled Seasoned Beef Taco and Burrito Filling products identified above.

In general, if plastic or metal fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the recalled Seasoned Beef Taco and Burrito Filling, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
