US FlagUS/Silver Spring: United Natural Foods Incorporated (“UNFI”), a Providence, Rhode Island establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Arla Apetina Marinated Feta & Olives in Oil due to suspected breakage of the food product’s cold chain and consequential risk of bacterial infection/growth including possible Clostridium Botulinum contamination, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health hazards.

Additional information:
The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Marinated Feta & Olive products are subject to this recall:

  • Arla Apetina Marinated Feta & Olives in Oil, sold in 3.1-pound plastic packages with a UPC of 9393605697 and distributed to 69 retail customers serviced by UNFI distribution centers in Greenwood, Indiana and Sarasota, Florida. between January 1, 2019 and August 30, 2019 to the following states FL, IL, IN, KY, MI, MO and OH.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the FDA, recalls certain batch/lots of Arla Apetina Marinated Feta & Olives in Oil due to suspected breakage of the food product’s cold chain and consequential risk of bacterial infection/growth including possible Clostridium Botulinum contamination. You should neither serve nor consume the recalled Marinated Feta & Olives products identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Marinated Feta & Olives, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Cheese and Olive products to the store or outlet where you purchased them for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat bacterial poisonings such as Botulism.
