US FlagUS/Washington: DeWALT Industrial Tool Company, a Towson, Maryland establishment, recalls an estimated 145,000 DeWALT branded Multi-Functional Utility Bars due to suspected structure failure, component breakage and consequential risk of injury, laceration, bone fracture and/or eye damage, all serious safety hazards.

Additional information:
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (“CPSC”) reports this recall involves DeWALT 40″ Multi-Functional Utility Bars designed at one end for prying and at the other for gripping boards, as follows:

  • The bars are yellow at one end and black at the other. The brand name, “DeWALT” and the model number “DWHT55293” can be found printed in black on the yellow end.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the CPSC, the Multi-Functional Utility Bars can break while being used for prying. If this defect occurs, it can cause various injuries to the operator and/or those nearby. DeWALT has received at least 56 reports of the utility bars breaking, including four (4) reports of injured users.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Multi-Functional Utility Bars, please do not use them. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
