UK FlagUK/London: Pipers Crisps Ltd, a Brigg, Lincolnshire establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Pipers branded Potato Crisps due to suspected Listeria monocytogenes contamination and consequential risk of Gram-positive bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health hazards.

The UK Food Standards Agency (“FSA”) reports the following Potato Crisp products are subject to recall:

  • Anglesey Sea Salt Crisps, sold in 20 gram bags with a batch/lot code of L4 19252 and a best-before date of 2020-01-27
  • Anglesey Sea Salt Crisps, sold in 40 gram bags with a batch/lot code of L4 19252 and a best-before date of 2020-01-27
  • Anglesey Sea Salt Crisps, sold in 40 gram bags with a batch/lot code of L4 19253 and a best-before date of 2020-01-28
  • Anglesey Sea Salt Crisps, sold in 600 gram tubs with a batch/lot code of L4 19259 and a best-before date of 2020-02-03
  • Anglesey Sea Salt Crisps, sold in 600 gram tubs with a batch/lot code of L4 19260 and a best-before date of 2020-02-04
  • Anglesey Sea Salt Crisps, sold in 600 gram tubs with a batch/lot code of L4 19261 and a best-before date of 2020-02-05
  • Karnataka Black Pepper Crisps, sold in 40 gram bags with a batch/lot code of L4 19254 and a best-before date of 2020-01-29

==> No barcodes, UPCs, EANs or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the FSA, Pipers Crisps has recalled two (2) types of Potato Crisps sold in various sizes because they may contain Listeria monocytogenes. You should neither serve nor consume the recalled Potato Crisps identified above.

==> For information about Listeriosis (Listeria poisoning), please consult the “Illnesses” tab on this site, located at the top of this page.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Potato Crisps, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Crisps to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-9-9, your closest hospital A&E or emergency centre equipped to properly treat bacterial poisonings such as Listeriosis.
