Canada FlagCanada/Ottawa: Metro Ontario Inc., a Toronto, Ontario establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Metro branded Deli Meat Trays due to suspected Listeria monocytogenes contamination and consequential risk of Gram-positive bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health hazards.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Deli Meat Tray products are subject to this recall:

  • Metro branded Snack Delights Deli Meat Trays – Small (serves 8 to 10); affected batch/lots: all best-before date codes up to and including 2019.SE28 and a UPC of 0260911 729999
  • Metro branded Snack Delights Deli Meat Trays – Large (serves 11 to 16); affected batch/lots: all best-before date codes up to and including 2019.SE28 and a UPC of 0260910 949992
  • Metro branded Fresh 2 Go Snack and Grab Party Trays, sold in 450 gram trays; affected batch/lots: all best-before date codes up to and including 2019.OC 02 and a UPC of 0222136 414999
  • Metro branded Fresh 2 Go Premium Kolbassa Sausage-Cheese Trays, sold in 450 gram trays; affected batch/lots: all best-before date codes up to and including 2019.OC02 and a UPC of 0221922 119995

According to the CFIA, Metro has recalled certain Metro branded Deli Meat Trays from the Canadian marketplace due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. You should neither serve nor consume the recalled Deli Meat Trays identified above.

==> For information about Listeriosis (Listeria poisoning), please consult the “Illnesses” tab on this site, located at the top of this page.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Deli Meat Trays, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat bacterial poisonings such as Listeriosis.
