US FlagUS/Silver Spring: California New Foods recalls certain batch/lots of Frozen and Refrigerated Cookie Dough products due to suspected mislabeling and consequential undeclared Peanuts and Walnuts, both known allergens, sources of dietary intolerance and possible triggers of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention.

The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Cookie Dough products are subject to this recall:

    • Carolyn’s Cookie Co. branded Frozen Cookie Dough in the following flavors, packaging and date codes:
      • Chocolate Chip, sold in 22-ounce plastic pouches; affected date codes: all date codes ranging from September 12, 2019 to March 29, 2020
      • Oatmeal Raisin, sold in 22-ounce plastic pouches; affected date codes: all date codes ranging from September 12, 2019 to March 29, 2020
      • Chocolate Chip Toasted Walnut, sold in 22-ounce plastic pouches; affected date codes: all date codes ranging from September 12, 2019 to March 29, 2020
      • Double Chocolate with Sea Salt, sold in 22-ounce plastic pouches; affected date codes: all date codes ranging from September 12, 2019 to March 29, 2020
      • Oatmeal Chocolate Chip, sold in 22-ounce plastic pouches; affected date codes: all date codes ranging from September 12, 2019 to March 29, 20

    • Chocolate Chip, sold in 22-ounce see-through cardboard sleeves; affected date codes: all date codes ranging from September 18, 2019 to September 25, 2019
    • Happy Trails, sold in 22-ounce see-through cardboard sleeve; affected date codes: all date codes ranging from September 18, 2019 to September 25, 2019

According to the FDA, California New Foods has recalled certain Frozen and Refrigerated Cookie Dough products due to a lack of labeling that addresses the potential for the products to contain Peanut and Walnut allergens.

People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity specific to Peanuts and Tree Nuts such as Walnuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume products containing the allergens.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Cookie Dough products and could be allergic to their Nut ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.
