Additional information:

Among the 43 recalls the NHTSA has announced this September comes news of the following:

Logo - Indian Motorcycle CompanyIndian Motorcycle Company (“Indian”), a Springfield, Massachusetts establishment and a division of Polaris Industries, has recalled an estimated 3,147 model year 2019 Chieftain Motorcycles marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

This safety notification reports that the tail lights in the recalled vehicles may be too bright, exceeding the maximum light output allowed. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (“FMVSS”) number 108, “Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment.”

According to the NHTSA, due to increased brightness, other drivers may have difficulties discerning the brake light from the tail light, and thus may be unaware that the Motorcycle is braking, thereby increasing the risk of a crash.

Indian will notify registered owners, and dealers will update the engine control module software to correct the rear tail light’s intensity, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin in September 2019. Owners may contact Indian customer service at 1-877-204-3697 during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Eastern Standard Time (“EST”). Indian’s designation for this recall is I-19-04.
