Canada FlagCanada/Ottawa: Abbott Laboratories Canada, a Saint-Laurent, Québec establishment and division of Abbott Laboratories, a Lake Bluff, Illinois establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Abbott branded Calcilo XD Powdered Infant Formula products due to suspected spoilage, rancidity and off-colour and consequential risk of bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health hazards.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Powdered Infant Formula products are subject to this recall:

  • Abbott branded Calcilo XD Powdered Infant Formula, sold in 375 gram tubs with a batch/lot of 79696K80 and a UPC of 0 70074 53329 2

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the CFIA, Abbott Laboratories has recalled certain batch/lots of Abbott branded Powdered Infant Formula products from the Canadian marketplace due to rancidity and off-colour. You should neither serve nor consume the recalled Infant Formula identified above.

==> For information about E. Coli poisoning, Listeriosis (Listeria poisoning) or Salmonellosis (Salmonella poisoning), please consult the “Illnesses” tab on this site, located at the top of this page.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Powdered Infant Formula products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store, distributor or other source where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat bacterial poisonings such as Listeriosis or Salmonellosis.
